Gio Ponti Tennis Coffee Pot

A porcelain coffee pot by Gio Ponti with a tennis motif from his Gli Sport collection, 1933. The body and lid feature hand painted trim in bold sky blue with applied figures of tennis player and pipe smoking referee in Ponti's signature Novecento style of idealised human form reminiscent of Botticelli's and other's works from the Italian Renaissance.  

Marked: Production mark in green with numbers '33.2' denotiong manufacture for February, 1933 and Richard Ginori Pittoria di Doccia mark within a gold background cartouche.
